Tennessee/Virginia — A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Tennessee and Virginia today, with snow and high winds expected.
The National Weather Service has warned residents to prepare for hazardous conditions, particularly in areas above 2,500 feet. Snowfall totals could reach up to 3 inches, with gusty winds making travel dangerous. The advisory is active from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Tennessee and from noon to 8 a.m. Thursday in Virginia.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution, especially on bridges and overpasses, which are prone to icing. In Virginia, areas such as Tazewell County and parts of Mercer and Summers counties in West Virginia will be affected. In Tennessee, key areas include the Smoky Mountains and surrounding high-elevation regions.
Temperatures will drop sharply this evening, increasing the risk of ice forming on untreated roads. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and limit unnecessary travel.
