Tallahassee, FL – A round of severe spring thunderstorms is expected to move into the Florida Panhandle Monday afternoon, with Tallahassee in the direct path of strong winds, heavy rain, and dangerous driving conditions—especially along U.S. Route 319.

According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms will begin after 2 p.m. Monday and could intensify into severe cells through the evening. Some storms may bring damaging wind gusts and frequent lightning. Patchy fog is expected to develop overnight, reducing visibility for early Tuesday commuters. Drivers along major roadways, including U.S. Route 319 and Interstate 10, should remain alert for sudden weather changes and slick conditions.

Rain chances sit at 50 percent Monday afternoon and evening, with storms tapering by early Tuesday morning. Temperatures will remain warm, reaching highs near 82°F Monday and dipping to the mid-60s overnight. Tuesday brings more isolated storms after 2 p.m., followed by partial clearing into the evening.

Looking ahead to the first week of April, conditions stabilize midweek. Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be mostly sunny, with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s—well above early spring averages. Friday continues the warm, dry pattern, making it ideal for outdoor activities and travel.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, monitor weather alerts, and avoid flooded roadways. Foggy mornings and wet pavement increase the risk of accidents during the morning commute.
