Tallahassee, FL – Hot and humid weather continues across North Florida this week, but a noticeable change is on the way. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee reports that highs will climb to near 90 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday, with heat index values reaching the mid to upper 90s.
According to the National Weather Service, while rainfall over the past two days brought some temporary relief, it was not enough to erase ongoing drought conditions. Much of the region received between 0.25 and 1.5 inches of rain, but forecasters say dry weather will dominate through the week.
A cold front moving in Thursday will bring cooler, drier air just in time for the weekend. High temperatures are expected to fall into the 70s by Friday, with overnight lows dropping into the 50s and 60s.
Despite the cooldown, drought concerns remain. The National Weather Service says mostly dry conditions are expected to persist for at least the next seven days, meaning limited relief for parched areas across the Florida Panhandle, South Georgia, and Southeast Alabama.
Residents should stay hydrated through midweek and prepare for more comfortable weather later this week as fall-like air arrives.
