Laporte, PA – Residents of Sullivan County are preparing for significant snowfall as a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 p.m. Friday.
The National Weather Service has forecasted snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches in higher elevations, with lower areas expecting 3 to 5 inches. The heaviest snowfall is anticipated on the ridgetops, potentially leading to power outages from snow-laden tree limbs and hazardous travel conditions.
According to the NWS, the snow will continue overnight into Friday, affecting the Friday morning commute. Drivers are urged to avoid travel if possible. For those who must venture out, extreme caution is advised, along with preparations such as tire chains, blankets, water, and a winter storm kit.
Authorities encourage residents to monitor weather updates and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm’s duration.
