Naperville, IL – Naperville city crews have been working around the clock after a severe storm swept through the area, leaving downed trees, widespread debris, and power outages across the city.

According to the City of Naperville, Illinois, Government, more than 90 trees or large branches that were fully or partially blocking roads were removed in the past 20 hours. Five Public Works crews and four contractors were deployed Wednesday and continue debris clean-up efforts through today. Forestry crews are expected to spend the coming weeks clearing damaged parkway trees and hanging branches throughout Naperville.

The city’s Emergency Communications Center reportedly managed a surge in calls during the peak of the storm. Officials said 62 storm-related police calls and 38 fire calls were dispatched between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, with a total of 546 calls answered. Customer Care Center and Public Works administrators also received 694 calls between 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday as residents reported outages and safety concerns.

Power restoration was a key focus, and all utility services were back online by 1:30 a.m. today, according to city officials. All roads have since reopened, allowing residents and businesses to resume normal activities as clean-up continues.

City officials thanked residents and businesses for their patience as storm recovery efforts progress. Naperville’s forestry and public works crews will remain active in the coming weeks to ensure full restoration and continued public safety following this week’s severe weather.
