St. Louis, MO – St. Louis is experiencing intense heat and humidity today, with high temperatures expected to reach the 90s. The heat index could soar to a dangerous 95-100 degrees by the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis.

The day will mostly stay dry, but there is a slight chance, about 20%, of showers or weak thunderstorms this morning across parts of central and northeast Missouri, as well as west-central Illinois.

The NWS advises residents to take precautions against the heat, as the high temperatures and humidity can cause heat-related illnesses. It’s essential to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the peak afternoon heat. The heat index, which combines temperature and humidity, may make it feel significantly hotter than the actual temperature.

The forecast calls for temperatures to climb from the mid-70s in the morning to the low 90s by midday, peaking in the afternoon. The heat is expected to persist into the early evening, with little relief in sight.

Residents should remain vigilant and stay updated on any changes in the weather forecast throughout the day.
