St. Louis, Mo. – Tornado watches are in effect across a wide stretch of eastern Missouri through 11 p.m. Sunday, with severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds targeting both metro and rural areas.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, Tornado Watch 155 covers 34 counties and one independent city, including St. Louis, Cape Girardeau, Jefferson City, and the Missouri Bootheel. The risk zone extends from St. Charles County in the north to New Madrid and Stoddard counties in the south.

Residents in high-population areas such as St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and Jefferson County are urged to stay weather-aware this evening. Fast-moving supercells may develop with little warning, especially between 6 and 10 p.m. Along I-55 and I-70, visibility could drop quickly in heavy downpours, with localized flooding possible.

Emergency management agencies recommend keeping mobile alerts active, charging phones and devices, and preparing to take shelter if warnings are issued. Schools and evening events across Franklin, Perry, and Cape Girardeau counties may face disruptions due to the incoming storms.

The tornado watch remains active until 11 p.m., with additional warnings likely as the evening progresses. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio and local authorities for the latest updates.
