St. Louis, MO – Missouri is set to experience poor air quality on Friday, posing risks for elderly individuals, children, and those with heart or lung conditions. The forecast predicts elevated ozone levels, making the air quality unhealthy for sensitive groups.

Residents are advised to take frequent breaks indoors and avoid intense outdoor activities. The National Weather Service in St. Louis issued the alert, urging people to pay attention to signs of fatigue.

According to the National Weather Service, the air quality index (AQI) for Friday is expected to be in the “unhealthy for sensitive groups” range. This means individuals with respiratory issues, the elderly, and young children should limit their outdoor exposure. The AQI measures air pollutants on a scale from 0 to 500, with higher values indicating greater health concerns.

Friday’s temperatures are anticipated to reach a high of 88°F, with mostly sunny skies. A chance of thunderstorms is forecasted early in the morning. The weekend weather will see a slight dip in temperatures, with highs around 80°F on Saturday and 75°F on Sunday.
