Chicago, IL – Illinois residents should prepare for a weekend of extreme weather as temperatures are expected to reach oppressive levels. The National Weather Service has issued a warning for dangerous heat on Sunday and Monday, with heat indices peaking between 100-110 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s weather will be warm and pleasant, with highs between 80-86 degrees. However, conditions will become increasingly humid on Saturday, leading to scattered thunderstorms and temperatures ranging from 83-90 degrees. The humidity will intensify on Sunday, pushing the heat index to dangerous levels. The forecast indicates that Sunday will be breezy with peak heat indices from 100-110 degrees.

The heat wave will continue into Monday, with similarly high heat indices and breezy conditions. On Tuesday, humid conditions will persist, and there is a 30-40% chance of thunderstorms. Daytime highs are expected to be between 85-90 degrees.
