Spokane, WA – Residents in Spokane and surrounding areas are urged to prepare for hazardous driving conditions as snow and ice move in tonight. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, effective from 10 p.m. Tuesday to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Drivers on I-90 and other major routes should expect slick roads and reduced visibility.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory affects much of eastern Washington, including downtown Spokane and neighboring communities such as Pullman, Coeur d’Alene, and Davenport. Snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches are anticipated near I-90, with 1 to 3 inches expected elsewhere. Untreated surfaces, especially bridges and sidewalks, may become treacherous as temperatures drop below freezing overnight.

The heaviest snowfall is predicted during the early morning hours on Wednesday, coinciding with commuter traffic. Those traveling should allow extra time, reduce speeds, and maintain a safe following distance. Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather updates and avoid non-essential travel if conditions worsen.

Looking ahead, the Spokane area will experience a mix of rain and snow on Wednesday, with a high near 42°F. Thursday brings another chance of snow in the morning, transitioning to rain later in the day. By Friday, temperatures will climb into the mid-40s, accompanied by consistent rain.
