Spokane Valley, WA – Fifteen people were arrested this week as Spokane Valley Detectives and Deputies partnered with local retailers in a coordinated year-end retail theft operation that recovered more than $2,300 in stolen goods.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the December 23 operation aimed to deter theft during the holiday shopping rush and hold repeat offenders accountable. The joint effort involved the Spokane Valley Investigative Unit (SVIU), deputies, and store loss prevention teams across multiple retail locations.
Detectives said suspects were observed stealing items including clothing, tools, and electronics. Several also had outstanding warrants, while others were allegedly in possession of Fentanyl and other controlled substances.
Among those arrested were Tyler Packwood, 28, and Nathan Lemmons, 39, both booked for Theft 3rd Degree. Another suspect, Melody Edwards, 53, was allegedly found with suspected Fentanyl and drug paraphernalia and booked on burglary and theft charges. Detectives also arrested Taylar Peyton, 32, for allegedly assaulting a store employee during an attempted theft.
Officials credited the Spokane Valley City Council for funding the initiative, which enabled increased staffing and coordination with retailers. Detectives said similar operations are planned in 2026 to continue reducing organized retail theft in the area.
