Michigan/Indiana – A lake-effect snow system will bring light snowfall and bitter cold temperatures to Michigan and Indiana through Tuesday morning. Widespread light snow is expected across the region, with accumulation under one inch, but slippery roads may develop.
The National Weather Service reports highs will remain in the teens on Tuesday, with wind chills plummeting to 0 to -10 degrees. Tuesday morning’s snowfall may cause hazardous travel across parts of Michigan, northern Indiana, and surrounding regions. Commuters should plan for slow and icy conditions during morning travel.
The lake-effect system will taper off by late Tuesday, but the cold will persist into Wednesday. Highs Wednesday will climb slightly into the low 20s, but wind chills will stay well below freezing. Colder air is expected to linger, although gradual warming should arrive by the end of the week.
According to the National Weather Service, Indiana and Michigan residents may experience warming by Friday, with highs reaching the mid-30s. Despite this improvement, caution is advised as light snow and frigid temperatures will dominate the first half of the week.
Officials recommend bundling up in multiple layers and limiting outdoor exposure to avoid frostbite. Drivers should keep emergency supplies in their vehicles and remain alert to changing weather conditions.
