Pittsburgh, PA – A significant winter storm is forecast to impact southwest Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia from Sunday into Monday, bringing heavy snow, ice, and gusty winds.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch beginning Sunday afternoon and lasting through Monday evening. Snow accumulations could range from 5 to 11 inches, with light ice accumulation also possible. Gusts up to 45 mph may create dangerous travel conditions, especially during Monday’s morning and evening commutes.

The NWS also issued a Winter Storm Warning that remains in effect until 10 a.m. Saturday for additional snow and icy conditions. Residents in higher elevations, including Donegal, Ohiopyle, and Kingwood, are likely to experience the most severe impacts.

According to the NWS, hazardous road conditions and potential power outages are expected. Travelers are advised to delay non-essential trips and carry emergency supplies, such as flashlights, food, and water. For updates on road conditions, call 511 or visit the NWS Pittsburgh Facebook page.
