Pittsburgh, PA – Residents across western Pennsylvania should prepare for plunging temperatures and potential snowfall through the weekend. The National Weather Service forecasts wind chills as low as -5°F and snowfall beginning late Sunday into Monday. Travelers along I-80 should expect hazardous conditions due to lake effect snow showers.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, Saturday night temperatures will drop to the teens, with lows around 15°F. Wind gusts up to 20 mph will make conditions feel even colder. Sunday brings increasing clouds and snow beginning by evening, with accumulations of 1 to 2 inches possible overnight.

The forecast suggests Monday will bring heavier snow, with totals reaching 2 to 4 inches in higher elevations. Highs will only reach the upper 20s. Those traveling or commuting early next week are urged to monitor road conditions, especially near high-elevation areas and along I-80.

Beyond Monday, temperatures will remain below freezing, with more snow possible midweek. Residents should take steps to ensure homes, vehicles, and pets are winter-ready. Keep a supply of warm clothing and blankets in vehicles, and limit outdoor time for pets during this deep freeze.

Stay informed by checking weather updates regularly. Emergency kits, including food, water, and flashlights, are recommended for both homes and vehicles.
