Wilmington, OH – A major temperature shift is on the way for southern Ohio later this week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wilmington.

Forecasters say a strong cold front will move through Friday afternoon and evening, bringing a round of rain before temperatures tumble sharply through the weekend. After a warm and moist start to Friday, the front will push through and trigger an 8–10 degree temperature drop each day through Monday.

By early next week, highs could be roughly 20 to 25 degrees colder than Friday’s readings. The front will usher in noticeably colder and drier air, marking a clear transition to more seasonable November weather.

The NWS advises residents to prepare for a chilly turn in conditions, with heavier jackets likely needed by late weekend. While rainfall Friday is expected to be moderate, no significant flooding or snow accumulation is forecast at this time.
