Springfield, Mo. – Southwest Missouri will see steady rainfall through Friday, with totals reaching up to 1.5 inches in localized areas, especially near Joplin and Pittsburg.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, rain chances will increase Tuesday night and continue into the end of the week, peaking Wednesday across southeastern Kansas and southwestern Missouri. Most locations will receive between 0.5 to 1 inch of rain, with heavier pockets of 1.0 to 1.5 inches in areas like Nevada, Cassville, and Mt. Vernon.

The rain isn’t expected to trigger flooding or severe storms, but residents with outdoor plans should prepare for consistently wet conditions. Commuters in Springfield, Branson, and Lebanon should allow extra time for slick roads during morning and evening hours. Rainfall could also briefly reduce visibility along U.S. 60 and I-44 corridors.

While the system is not expected to bring damaging winds or hail, it’s still wise to check for local advisories, keep umbrellas handy, and avoid water pooling on roads. This rain event marks one of the more widespread wet spells for the region this month.

Rain chances diminish Friday evening, but spotty showers could linger. No additional weather alerts have been issued as of early Tuesday.
