Lake Charles, LA – A warm and wet pattern is expected to develop across Louisiana beginning April 19, bringing a significant shift in weather conditions for residents across the state.
According to the National Weather Service Lake Charles office, there is a 41% chance of above-normal precipitation and a 52% likelihood of above-normal temperatures from April 19 through April 25. This double-weather trend could impact daily routines, agricultural planning, and energy demand as both moisture and heat levels rise.
The greatest impacts are expected in central and southwest Louisiana, including cities like Lake Charles, Lafayette, and Alexandria. Temperatures during the period are forecast to remain in the upper 80s, with nighttime lows in the 60s.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated, reduce outdoor activities during peak afternoon heat, and monitor local advisories for any flash flood alerts as increased rainfall accumulates.
While the week of April 12 remains dry and seasonally pleasant with clear skies and daytime highs in the low to mid-80s, conditions will shift notably in the following week.
Officials urge preparedness measures, especially for flood-prone areas, and remind residents to ensure proper drainage around homes. Updates will be provided regularly by the National Weather Service.
