Lake Charles, LA – A wind advisory remains in effect from 9 AM until 7 PM CDT today, affecting parts of southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas. The National Weather Service warns of gusty winds, with sustained speeds of 15 to 30 mph, and gusts potentially reaching 45 mph in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory impacts numerous cities, including Lafayette, Lake Charles, and Beaumont, with strong south and southeast winds expected throughout the day. These conditions could cause difficulty for high-profile vehicles on the road, particularly in open areas or on bridges.

The weather service advises that unsecured objects, such as trash cans and outdoor furniture, may be blown around, and tree limbs could fall, potentially leading to power outages. These gusts will occur outside of any thunderstorms, meaning the weather event should be relatively dry.

Residents are urged to exercise caution while driving, especially on elevated roadways or areas prone to wind gusts. The advisory is set to last until 7 PM today, with conditions expected to calm by evening.
