Oklahoma City, OK – The Southern Plains are set for a quiet, mild start to November, but forecasters say Thanksgiving week could bring the region’s first real brush with winter.
According to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC) update released October 24, 2025, Texas, Oklahoma, southern Kansas, and Arkansas are expected to see above-normal temperatures and below-average precipitation through mid-month. That means pleasant fall days for now — and no early snow threat — but patterns are expected to shift later in the month.
Meteorologists note that as the jet stream dips south closer to Thanksgiving, colder air from the Rockies could sweep into the Plains. While most areas will stay dry, northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas could experience frost or even light flurries if moisture lines up with the front.
For holiday travelers, the Southern Plains forecast looks mostly favorable — but residents are advised to watch for sudden temperature drops during the final week of November.
