Eugene, OR – Temperatures dropping near or below freezing overnight could damage crops and freeze pipes across western and southern Oregon, with the coldest conditions arriving before sunrise Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Portland and Medford, a Freeze Warning is in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday until 10 a.m. Friday across the Willamette Valley, including Eugene, Corvallis, and Albany, where temperatures may fall as low as 30°F, with isolated rural areas dipping to 27°F . The coldest window is expected between 3 a.m. and 8 a.m.
Further south, Medford, Ashland, and Grants Pass will see temperatures between 28°F and 32°F from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday. In Siskiyou County, California, lows could drop as cold as 26°F in communities like Happy Camp.
Low-lying valleys and rural areas face the highest risk, where frost will form quickly and damage sensitive vegetation. Outdoor plumbing and irrigation systems may also be vulnerable if left unprotected.
Residents should cover plants, bring potted vegetation indoors, and allow faucets to drip to prevent freezing. Conditions improve late Friday morning, but additional cold nights remain possible.
