Medford, OR – A soft gray mist clings to the Rogue Valley this morning as dense fog drapes the highways and fields, reducing visibility to just a couple of miles at times. The air feels still and damp, a signal of early December’s cool transition before a wetter pattern sets in next week.

The National Weather Service reports patchy fog continuing through Sunday morning, especially in low-lying areas and river valleys near I-5, Central Point, and Ashland. Motorists are urged to slow down, use low beams, and allow extra travel time. Conditions may briefly improve by midday before fog reforms late in the evening.

By Sunday night into Tuesday, a series of weak Pacific fronts will drift inland, bringing light rain showers and scattered drizzle to the Rogue Valley. Most rainfall will stay under a quarter inch, but damp roads and lingering fog patches could create slick spots during morning commutes. Temperatures remain steady — highs near 55–60°F and lows in the low 40s.

Meteorologists expect this calm pattern to break midweek as a stronger moisture plume approaches Oregon’s coast, hinting at heavier rain potential after Wednesday. For now, fog remains the main travel hazard, particularly in valleys where cold air traps moisture close to the ground.
