Medford, Oregon – Residents across southern Oregon and northern California will face dangerous heat beginning Sunday morning, with triple-digit temperatures expected in several valleys through Monday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, a heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Sunday to 8 p.m. Monday for Jackson, Josephine, and Douglas counties in Oregon, and Siskiyou County in California. Forecast highs range from 95–98°F in Roseburg and the Umpqua Basin to as high as 103°F in Medford, Grants Pass, and Yreka.

Communities along the Rogue, Illinois, and Applegate rivers, as well as areas like Ashland, Cave Junction, and Happy Camp, are at increased risk for heat-related illness. Cold water from ongoing mountain snowmelt adds a separate danger for those seeking relief in rivers.

Health officials urge residents to stay indoors, drink water frequently, and check on vulnerable neighbors and relatives. Outdoor workers should take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.

This is the first major heat event of the season for much of the region. Temperatures are expected to cool by Tuesday, but additional advisories may be issued if the heat lingers.
