Las Vegas, NV – A powerful early-season storm system is sweeping across the region, signaling the first taste of fall for southern Nevada. According to the US National Weather Service in Las Vegas, widespread gusty winds will develop today and Tuesday, followed by a sharp temperature drop by midweek.
Rain and mountain snow are expected across the Sierra and Western Mojave Desert, extending into the Great Basin. The best rain chances will be north and west of Las Vegas, while much cooler air settles in by Wednesday.
Forecasters say temperatures will fall well below normal midweek, with the first freezes likely in higher elevations such as the Owens Valley. Residents should prepare for strong winds, cooler mornings, and changing travel conditions—particularly along mountain passes where early snow may appear.
By Wednesday, fall will be firmly in place across the region, bringing crisp air and a noticeable change after weeks of lingering warmth.
