Mankato, MN – A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect across southern Minnesota until midnight to 6 a.m. Sunday, with forecasters warning of steady to heavy snow and dangerous driving conditions through the night.

According to the National Weather Service in Twin Cities/Chanhassen, snowfall totals will range from 4 to 10 inches, with the heaviest accumulations expected near the Interstate 90 corridor — including Redwood Falls, Mankato, Owatonna, Albert Lea, Faribault, and Red Wing. Snow is expected to diminish west to east overnight as the system exits into Wisconsin early Sunday.

Additional snowfall of 2 to 5 inches is expected in several counties, with localized whiteout conditions possible at times. Roads, bridges, and overpasses will remain slick and snow-covered, making travel slow and hazardous.

The National Weather Service urges residents to avoid unnecessary travel, allow for extra travel time, and check road conditions by calling 511 or visiting 511mn.org.
