Champaign, IL – Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected across parts of central and southern Illinois today, with more activity south of I-72. Residents should prepare for intermittent storms today and Saturday. By Sunday, temperatures will rise into the mid-80s, bringing a warmer and drier start to next week.

According to the US National Weather Service, rainfall is expected to remain light, though some areas south of I-70 could see up to an inch of rain. Today’s highs will stay in the upper 70s, dipping down into the low 60s tonight. As the weekend progresses, storm chances will decrease, but warm, humid conditions will persist.

Locals are urged to monitor weather updates, especially if planning outdoor activities. Storms could disrupt travel south of I-72 throughout the weekend. Temperatures will return to above-normal by Monday, peaking in the high 80s. The early-week forecast calls for mostly clear skies and mild overnight lows in the 60s.
