San Diego, CA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for the San Bernardino and Riverside County mountains from 10 a.m. Sunday through 4 p.m. Monday, with up to 5 inches of snow and strong winds expected.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will primarily affect elevations above 5,500 feet, with lighter accumulations possible as low as 4,500 feet. Wind gusts ranging from 55 to 65 mph on desert mountain slopes could create hazardous travel conditions.

Residents and travelers should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility, especially during the Monday morning commute. Officials warn that strong winds may also cause tree damage and power outages. Snowfall is expected to taper off by mid-morning Monday, though gusty winds will persist into the late afternoon.

Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution on mountain roads. Up-to-date road conditions can be obtained by calling 511.

This winter storm follows a pattern of recent mountain weather events in Southern California, where elevation-based snowfall and strong winds frequently impact travel and infrastructure. Motorists should prepare for winter driving conditions and remain aware of changing weather forecasts as the system moves through the region.
