Grand Rapids, MI – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Mason, Lake, and Oceana counties until noon Saturday as snow and strong winds impact travel conditions across West Michigan.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, snow accumulations of up to two inches are expected, accompanied by wind gusts reaching 35 to 40 mph. These conditions will likely make roads, especially bridges and overpasses, slick and hazardous. Visibility may also be significantly reduced in areas of lake effect snow, with conditions changing rapidly over short distances.

Residents are urged to exercise caution while traveling, as blowing snow and icy roads could lead to difficult driving conditions. The National Weather Service warns that lake effect snow can create unpredictable weather patterns, with some areas seeing heavy snowfall while others remain dry just a few miles away.

Drivers should reduce speeds, allow extra time for travel, and be prepared for sudden changes in road conditions. Officials recommend checking local traffic reports and weather updates before heading out.

The advisory is set to expire at noon on Saturday, but motorists should remain cautious as residual snow and wind gusts may continue to affect travel through the afternoon.
