Hanford, CA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for parts of Southern California, including Tehachapi, Grapevine, and Frazier Mountain Communities, until 4 p.m. Monday. Snowfall of up to 10 inches is expected in higher elevations.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), snow and icy conditions will likely make roads, bridges, and overpasses hazardous. Areas impacted include the Grapevine along Interstate 5, Lebec, and Piute Walker Basin. The Monday morning commute is anticipated to be challenging due to slick surfaces and reduced visibility.
Travelers are urged to drive cautiously, slow down, and be prepared for delays. Carrying chains and emergency supplies is recommended for those heading through mountain passes or other impacted areas.
This winter weather system follows recent storms that have already created significant disruptions in the region. Snowfall, combined with wind and freezing temperatures, will create dangerous travel conditions until the advisory expires Monday afternoon.
For updated road conditions, call 511 or monitor local advisories. Drivers should plan ahead, as lingering icy patches may persist even after snowfall decreases.
