Hanford, CA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for parts of central California, including the Sierra Nevada, until 4 p.m. Monday. Snowfall and gusty winds are expected to create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), areas such as Yosemite Valley, Shaver Lake, and Grant Grove may see up to six additional inches of snow. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph, compounding travel difficulties. The advisory includes key areas like Huntington Lake, Fish Camp, and the Kings Canyon National Park region.

Roads, bridges, and overpasses will likely become slick, posing risks for drivers. The Monday morning commute may be particularly challenging due to reduced visibility and icy conditions.

Travelers are advised to slow down and use caution while driving. Residents in affected areas should also monitor updates and road closures through the state’s 511 system.

This storm follows a pattern of winter weather that has impacted California’s mountain regions this month, further stressing local travel infrastructure. Officials recommend carrying chains, emergency supplies, and checking local forecasts before venturing out.

The advisory will expire Monday at 4 p.m., but lingering icy conditions may persist in some areas.
