Los Angeles, California – Multiple weather hazards are impacting parts of Southern California, including damaging winds Thursday followed by dangerous freeze conditions late tonight into Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, a High Wind Warning remains in effect for the Western Antelope Valley Foothills through 8 p.m. PST Thursday. Northwest winds of 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph are expected near Lake Palmdale and Elizabeth Lake. These winds may down trees and power lines, with widespread power outages possible, especially due to saturated soils.

A Wind Advisory is also in effect for the Santa Ynez Valley from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. PST Thursday, with gusts up to 40 mph affecting areas including Solvang, Los Olivos, and Lake Cachuma.

In addition to wind impacts, a Freeze Watch is in effect from late tonight through Friday morning across multiple inland valleys. Forecast lows include 26°F in the Western Antelope Valley Foothills, 27°F in the Santa Ynez Valley, and as low as 18°F in the Cuyama Valley, Ojai Valley, and Eastern Antelope Valley Foothills.

Freeze conditions may kill crops, damage sensitive vegetation, and burst unprotected outdoor plumbing. The National Weather Service notes the freeze threat may extend into Saturday morning in some locations.

Residents are urged to secure loose objects, avoid unnecessary travel during peak winds, remain indoors away from windows, and take immediate steps to protect plants and exposed pipes.
