Tres Pinos, CA – A series of earthquakes struck Southern California early Saturday, with the strongest measuring magnitude 3.9.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the largest quake hit at 4:31 a.m. local time, centered about 12 kilometers south-southwest of Tres Pinos. It occurred at a depth of 9 kilometers. Several smaller quakes followed, including a magnitude 3.3 at 12:40 a.m. and a magnitude 3.0 at 2:31 a.m.
Residents in the region reported mild to moderate shaking. The quakes were part of a seismic sequence that included multiple tremors ranging from magnitude 2.7 to 3.9. No significant damage or injuries have been reported.
Seismologists continue monitoring the area for aftershocks. The region sits along active fault lines, making earthquakes a common occurrence. Authorities urge residents to stay prepared for possible aftershocks.
