TUCSON, Ariz. – Tucson is heating up again, with highs climbing toward 98°F by midweek before monsoon moisture returns late in the week. After a clear and mild start to the week, the National Weather Service expects temperatures to approach triple digits Wednesday and Thursday under mostly sunny skies.

According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, overnight lows will stay in the upper 60s to low 70s, offering little relief from the daytime heat. Winds will remain light and variable through Wednesday before shifting slightly southeast by Thursday night.

While dry air dominates early in the week, a 20 to 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected to develop by Friday and continue through the weekend. Any storms could bring brief heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning, especially across southeastern Pima County and along I-10.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and secure outdoor items ahead of possible gusty outflow winds by Friday.

Hot, mostly dry conditions are expected to persist through Thursday, with isolated storms likely returning to the region by Friday afternoon.
