Detroit, MI – A cold front sweeping through Michigan this week is bringing significant weather changes, with rain turning to snow Tuesday night into Wednesday. Highs will reach near 50 degrees today but are expected to drop sharply to the 30s by midweek, making for a chilly and potentially snowy commute.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Detroit, rain will persist throughout Monday, tapering off by early afternoon. Tuesday brings mostly cloudy skies with highs in the low 40s. However, colder air will arrive Tuesday night, pushing temperatures into the upper 20s and increasing the chance of snow showers. Residents should prepare for slick road conditions, particularly on highways like I-75 and I-94 during Wednesday morning’s commute.

By Wednesday, snow is likely, especially in the afternoon and evening hours, with highs only reaching the low 30s and wind chills making it feel even colder. NWS reports that snow accumulations could impact travel and visibility through Wednesday night.

Looking ahead, Thursday will be even colder, with highs in the low 20s and lows dropping into the teens. A brief break in precipitation is expected before another chance of rain or snow returns Friday into Saturday.

Drivers are urged to monitor weather updates and exercise caution on icy roadways. Consider allowing extra travel time midweek and keeping an emergency kit in your vehicle.

Stay tuned for updates as the week progresses.
