Detroit, MI – Southeastern Michigan is set for a warm weekend, with temperatures soaring into the upper 80s and low 90s today and Sunday. The National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac reports that heat indices will reach around 90 today, slightly lower in the upper 80s on Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, a cold front will move through the region from Sunday night into Tuesday, bringing relief from the heat and humidity. This cold front will introduce a series of weather systems that may produce several rounds of showers and thunderstorms from Sunday night through Tuesday.
Saturday and Sunday will see mostly sunny skies with highs ranging from 84-89°F. However, as the cold front approaches late Sunday, there is a significant chance of showers and thunderstorms developing overnight, continuing into Monday and Tuesday.
Monday’s temperatures are expected to be slightly cooler, with highs ranging from 76-86°F and a chance of thunderstorms. The forecast predicts a 35% chance of rain on Monday, increasing to 70% on Tuesday, with temperatures dropping further to the mid-60s.
The middle of the week will see a return to clearer skies, with temperatures stabilizing in the low 60s. Wednesday through Friday are expected to be mostly sunny with highs in the 61-67°F range. This cooling trend will provide much-needed relief after the weekend’s heat.
