Milwaukee, WI – The National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of east-central and southeastern Wisconsin, where 2 to 5 inches of wet snow are expected to fall Tuesday evening through early Wednesday morning.
The advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, through 6 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, and includes counties such as Marquette, Green Lake, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Columbia, Dodge, Washington, and Ozaukee. Cities under the advisory include Portage, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Beaver Dam, and West Bend.
Forecasters say snow will develop Tuesday evening and intensify through the night, with snowfall rates approaching half an inch per hour at times. A brief mix of freezing rain or rain may occur late Tuesday night as temperatures hover near freezing, before transitioning back to light snow early Wednesday morning.
Road conditions are expected to deteriorate quickly after sunset Tuesday, with slick and snow-covered surfaces making travel hazardous, especially during late-night and early-morning commutes.
Motorists should reduce speed, increase following distance, and check 511wi.gov for real-time road conditions before traveling.
