Virginia – A salty breeze carries thickening clouds over Virginia Beach this morning, and conditions are already shifting toward a wetter, wind-driven pattern. Roads remain mostly dry for now, but changes arrive quickly by late day.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers develop later today, with rain chances increasing into the evening and totals reaching up to a half inch in some areas . Winds strengthen out of the southwest before shifting north, with gusts up to 24 mph today and increasing further into tonight.

Rain becomes steadier by evening, reducing visibility along I-264, Shore Drive, and coastal routes. Expect slick pavement and slower travel as showers intensify. Plan extra time if heading out after sunset.

Saturday brings a sharp shift. Sunshine returns, but temperatures fall to around 48°F with strong northwest winds between 18 and 22 mph and gusts up to 33 mph. The air will feel noticeably cooler and brisk along the coast. Secure loose outdoor items and prepare for choppy conditions near the shoreline.

By Sunday, calmer weather settles in. Sunshine dominates with highs near 55°F, offering a break from the wind. The warming trend continues into Monday, when temperatures climb to around 68°F with mostly sunny skies across Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads.

Looking ahead, spring warmth builds into next week, with highs pushing into the 70s and generally quiet conditions returning.

If you’re traveling later today, watch for wet roads and increasing winds near the coast.
