Paducah, KY – After a warm Wednesday, western Kentucky will soon face unsettled weather as the remnants of Hurricane Francine bring heavy rainfall and potential flooding. Storms are expected to begin Thursday and continue through the weekend, affecting much of the region, including southeast Missouri and southern Illinois.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, 1 to 3 inches of rain could fall, with the heaviest amounts expected late Thursday into Friday. The highest rainfall totals are forecast for western Kentucky, where localized flooding may occur. Residents should monitor local forecasts and prepare for potential impacts on roadways due to water accumulation.

Storms are predicted to persist into the weekend, with lingering showers possible early next week. Those in flood-prone areas should remain alert for flash flood warnings and avoid driving on water-covered roads. Confidence in the severity of Friday’s storms remains uncertain, but the risk of strong thunderstorms increases as the remnants of Francine move through the Quad State region.
