Detroit, MI – A Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for all of southeast Michigan starting at midnight tonight and continuing through Wednesday at noon, with dangerously low temperatures expected.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service Detroit, wind chill values could drop as low as -15 to -25°F overnight, with little improvement during the day as high temperatures are expected to remain in the single digits. Wind chills are anticipated to stay near or below -10°F through Wednesday afternoon.
The advisory warns that frostbite can occur in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin in these conditions. Residents are urged to wear layers, limit outdoor exposure, and avoid leaving pets outdoors. Frostbite and hypothermia are possible without proper precautions.
The Weather Service recommends staying indoors when possible and preparing for the extreme cold with necessary supplies.
