Tucson, AZ – Southeast Arizona is under an excessive heat warning as temperatures soar this week. The Tucson Metro Area will see highs between 104°F and 108°F through Friday.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service, the heat warning affects much of Southeast Arizona, with cities like Marana, Oro Valley, and Ajo experiencing the brunt of the heat. Parts of the region may reach as high as 112°F, posing significant health risks.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak hours, and check on vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and young children. Vehicles can quickly heat up to dangerous levels, so caution is urged. The NWS also warned of the dangers of leaving pets or people in parked cars.
This heat event is expected to last through the workweek, with temperatures finally cooling down by Saturday. As the excessive heat lingers, local authorities are encouraging residents to follow safety guidelines to prevent heat-related illnesses.
