Phoenix, AZ – Severe weather conditions are forecasted for southeastern Arizona today, with a high likelihood of dust storms and strong outflow winds impacting the region. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Phoenix has issued a warning for a complex of storms expected to develop this afternoon.

According to the NWS, the storms will initiate in southeastern Arizona and move northwestward towards the Phoenix metro area by mid to late afternoon. These storms carry a 50-70% chance of producing outflow winds reaching at least 35 mph, primarily affecting Pinal and Maricopa Counties. Residents in these areas should prepare for dense blowing dust, which could significantly reduce visibility and create hazardous driving conditions along the I-10 corridor.

While the strongest storm activity is anticipated in southeastern Arizona, scattered storms are likely to form in the Phoenix area late in the afternoon. These storms may produce localized heavy rainfall, adding to the potential for hazardous conditions.

The impact of these weather patterns includes dense blowing dust, reduced visibility, and hazardous travel conditions. The NWS advises residents to remain indoors if possible and to avoid traveling during peak storm periods. Motorists should exercise extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility.

The forecast for Phoenix over the next few days shows continued high temperatures, with highs reaching 108°F today and peaking at 110°F by Saturday. Thunderstorm chances will diminish later in the week, but the heat will persist, with temperatures remaining above 100°F through Monday.
