Miami, Florida – South Florida residents are facing a dangerous heat wave today as “feels like” temperatures are expected to soar between 105 and 109°F across Miami, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Outdoor activities could quickly turn hazardous, especially for vulnerable groups and outdoor workers.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, a Heat Advisory remains in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, August 2. The alert covers Miami-Dade, Broward, inland Collier, and Palm Beach counties, with cities like Hialeah, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Homestead all under threat. The combination of high humidity and soaring temperatures will make it feel even hotter—pushing the risk of heat-related illness.

Health officials urge residents to stay indoors in air conditioning, limit strenuous outdoor activity, and drink plenty of fluids. If you must be outside, take frequent breaks in the shade and check on neighbors and pets. Roads and public spaces may see fewer people as locals heed the warnings, and cooling centers could see increased demand.

The heat threat continues until 7 p.m., with further advisories possible if temperatures remain high. Stay tuned for additional updates and look out for vulnerable community members.
