Sioux Falls, SD – A strong late-winter storm is bringing snow, icy roads, and powerful winds to eastern South Dakota through early Wednesday, making travel dangerous across the region. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Sioux Falls and surrounding areas, warning of gusts up to 55 mph and blowing snow reducing visibility.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory remains in effect until 3 a.m. Wednesday. Snow accumulations could reach up to two inches, with roads, especially bridges and overpasses, expected to become slick. Strong winds may also lead to tree damage and power outages. Motorists are urged to drive cautiously and check road conditions via 511 before heading out.

Wednesday will start cloudy and windy, with temperatures reaching 35°F before clearing in the afternoon. Winds will remain strong, gusting up to 45 mph.
