Pueblo, CO – Strong winds are sweeping across southern Colorado today, with gusts reaching up to 70 mph in Pueblo and nearby counties. The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning until 5 PM Tuesday, warning residents of downed trees, power outages, and hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, northern winds between 40 and 45 mph, with gusts up to 70 mph, are affecting Pueblo, El Paso, Huerfano, Las Animas, and surrounding counties. Wind speeds this high can blow down power lines and trees, creating dangerous road conditions, especially on east-west highways like U.S. Highway 50. High-profile vehicles are particularly at risk.

What to Expect Next

By Tuesday night, winds will begin to decrease, dropping to around 10–15 mph after midnight. Wednesday will bring a calmer, mild spring day with highs reaching 55°F.

However, another weather shift arrives Thursday night into Friday, when a system could bring snow showers and colder temperatures. Pueblo may see a rain-snow mix by Friday, with highs only reaching 49°F.

Five-Day Pueblo Forecast

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, high of 55°F, light southeast winds.
