Aberdeen, SD – A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of South Dakota and Minnesota from 7 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, until 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2025. Snow and ice are expected to cause significant disruptions in travel, including dangerous road conditions and reduced visibility due to blowing snow.

According to the National Weather Service, mixed precipitation will affect Edmunds, Faulk, Spink, Clark, and Hamlin counties in South Dakota, as well as Traverse and Big Stone counties in Minnesota. Snow accumulations are expected to range from 1 to 5 inches, with higher amounts possible in some areas. Ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch could create slick surfaces.

Winds gusting up to 40 mph will accompany the precipitation, leading to possible areas of blowing snow that could severely reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions are expected to impact commutes, particularly Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning.

Travelers are urged to slow down, use caution, and monitor road conditions through local authorities, including the 511 travel information services for both states.
