Austin, TX – A freeze warning is in effect for most of South Central Texas from midnight Tuesday to 8 a.m. Wednesday, with temperatures forecasted to range between 26 and 32 degrees.

The National Weather Service issued the warning for areas outside urban centers, including Llano, Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Gonzales, New Braunfels, and Del Rio. Residents in the affected regions are advised to take precautions to protect sensitive plants, crops, and outdoor plumbing from the potentially damaging effects of frost and freezing temperatures.

Cold conditions are expected to primarily impact rural and suburban areas, with urban centers like Austin and San Antonio likely experiencing milder effects. However, those in the region are urged to wrap exposed pipes, allow faucets to drip, and ensure pets have access to warm shelter.

The freeze is expected to lift by 8 a.m. Wednesday, but forecasters caution that the seasonal shift could bring additional cold fronts in the coming days. Farmers, gardeners, and homeowners are encouraged to monitor local conditions and prepare accordingly.
