Columbia, SC – A sunny midweek in Columbia will give way to rain this weekend as temperatures shift across the region. Residents can expect highs in the upper 50s through Saturday before cooler air and rain arrive.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday and Friday will remain clear with highs of 57°F and 55°F, respectively, and lows near 30°F. By Saturday, a 90% chance of showers will bring widespread rain, with temperatures reaching a high of 55°F. This could lead to slick roads, particularly along major routes like I-77 and US-1. Drivers should prepare for reduced visibility and wet conditions.

Rain will linger into Sunday morning, with chances tapering off by the afternoon. Sunday’s high is expected to climb to 59°F before cooler air settles in Monday. Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday will bring a significant temperature drop, with highs around 41°F and lows plunging to the mid-20s.

Looking ahead, Tuesday will remain partly sunny with a high of 38°F. Despite the cooler air, the dry conditions will provide some relief after the wet weekend. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items before the rain and plan weekend activities around the showers.
