St. Louis, MO – A brief warmup will bring a taste of spring to Missouri this week, but frigid temperatures are set to return by the weekend. Temperatures will climb to the low 50s on Friday, but a strong cold front will bring rain, snow, and a dramatic drop in temperatures by Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday’s high will reach the upper 30s under mostly sunny skies. Conditions will turn cloudy Friday night, with rain expected to transition to snow after midnight. Roads, including major routes like I-70, may become slick during the overnight hours into Saturday morning.

Saturday’s temperatures will struggle to rise above freezing, with highs in the mid-20s and wind chills making it feel even colder. Residents are urged to prepare for icy conditions and bundle up as bitter cold persists into early next week.

Looking ahead, Sunday will remain cold with a high near 20 degrees. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is expected to be sunny but frigid, with temperatures in the teens.

Missourians should stay updated on road conditions and plan for a significant drop in temperatures this weekend. Take precautions for pets and outdoor plumbing as the arctic air settles into the region.
