Charleston, SC – A powerful line of storms is sweeping through southeast South Carolina today, bringing risks of severe weather. The National Weather Service warns of damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and isolated tornadoes. Local residents and drivers along I-26 and I-95 should prepare for hazardous conditions through mid-afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, the most severe impacts are expected from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Coastal regions, including Charleston and Beaufort, face the highest risk. Gusts exceeding 50 mph and brief tornado activity are possible. A flash flood advisory may also be issued if rainfall intensifies.

Residents should secure outdoor objects, remain indoors during the storms, and monitor local weather updates. Travelers on major roadways like I-95 should exercise caution and avoid driving during peak impact times.

After today’s storm activity, the Charleston area can expect improving weather conditions. Monday will bring mostly sunny skies and temperatures near 66 degrees. New Year’s Eve is forecast to be clear and mild, with highs near 60 and lows around 40. The first days of 2025 will remain sunny, though cooler, with highs in the 50s and lows dipping into the 30s.
