Spartanburg, SC – A potential winter storm could bring snow and icy conditions to Upstate South Carolina this week, followed by a blast of Arctic air. Residents should prepare for hazardous travel conditions, especially along I-85, as temperatures plummet.

According to the National Weather Service, a mix of rain and snow is expected late Tuesday night into Wednesday, with a 90% chance of precipitation. Snow accumulation remains uncertain, but even light ice could create slick roads. By Wednesday night, temperatures will drop into the low 20s, and a reinforcing cold front could push wind chills near zero by the weekend.

Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny, but daytime highs will struggle to reach 40°F. Overnight lows will plummet into the teens, making for dangerously cold conditions.

Drivers should monitor road conditions and check for delays before traveling. Keep extra layers and emergency supplies in vehicles. Homeowners should take precautions against frozen pipes and ensure pets have adequate warmth.
