Newport, NC – A midweek storm system will bring heavy rain and gusty winds to eastern North Carolina, followed by a sharp Arctic chill.
According to the National Weather Service, rain will begin Tuesday night and intensify Wednesday, with a 100% chance of precipitation and possible flooding in low-lying areas. Strong winds could also impact travel on major roadways, including U.S. Route 70. By Wednesday night, temperatures will plummet, with lows near 27°F and wind chills making it feel even colder.
Thursday and Friday will remain dry but much colder, with highs only reaching the upper 30s to low 40s. By Thursday night, temperatures could drop as low as 19°F, posing a risk for frozen pipes and hazardous road conditions.
